Electric Torque Machines (ETM) motor and drives technology is the result of nearly 10 years and $30M in product development, testing and scaling of high volume manufacturing. The patented technology arguably represents the biggest advancement in electric motors to hit the market in many decades. Initial customer projects began in 2007, working on a broad variety of applications. It was obvious that the motor’s competitive advantages – low cost, high efficiency, high continuous torque density (eliminates need for gearbox and small size, low weight), high reliability and a wide operating window (sku and inventory reduction) – was an especially great fit for many high duty cycle industrial applications. Hence ETM’s initial production motors and drives were used in high volume, low speed industrial fans. High production quantity applications then expanded to include conveyors and other types of material handling equipment, because the amount of money the customer saves is so significant – while also dramatically reducing energy consumption and improving reliability.
ETM motors have accumulated millions of operating hours in the field and saved multi-MWH of energy for customers using them. That’s just the beginning of the story.
